Rushden Soldier Missing - Private W J Warren - News Wanted

Mrs H Warren, 32 Sartoris-road, Rushden, is very anxious for definite news concerning her son, Pte W J Warren, 13884, B Co., 1st Northants Regiment, from whom she has not heard since the big battle of May 9th. She will be grateful for any information that any of his comrades can send her. She has already received the following letter from Capt E. C. Hughes, in command of her son's company:-

"I much regret to inform you that your son was reported missing after the attack on May 9th. We have been unable to obtain any further information about him since that day. I sincerely sympathise with you in your present anxieties as regards your son, and I hope that may be he has been taken prisoner."

Rushden Soldier Killed - Official Confirmation

Recently we published in our columns for some weeks, with a request for information the photo of Pte W J Warren, 13884, B Co., 1st Northants Regiment, son of Mr and Mrs H Warren, 32 Sartoris-road, Rushden, who has been missing from his regiment since the battle of Aubers Ridge on May 9th. We regret to report that Mr and Mrs Warren have now received official news from the War Office to say that their son was killed in action on May 9th. The late Pte Warren enlisted on August 21st, 1914 and was sent to the front on January 25th. Prior to his enlistment he was in the employ of the Midland Railway Company.

Rushdenite Killed at Aubers Ridge

We regret to report that Mr. and Mrs. H. Warren, of Sartoris-road, Rushden, have, after a long period of anxiety, received official news from the War Office that their son, Pte. W. J. Warren, of “B” Company, 1st Northants Regiment, was killed at Aubers Ridge on May 9th. the deceased soldier enlisted in August, 1914, and went to the front in January. He formerly worked for the Midland Railway Company.
