Rushden Sailor Missing

Mr. and Mrs. A. Sturgen, of 70, Newton-road, Rushden, have received official notification that their eldest son, Able Seaman Eric C. Sturgen, R.N., is missing on war service. A native of Rushden, Able Seaman Sturgen was 22 on January 14th. He was educated at Newton-road Schools, and volunteered for service in June, 1941. Prior to joining up he was employed by his father, at the factory in Griffith-street, Rushden.

Rushden Sailor Gives His Life

An official report that their eldest son, Able-Seaman Eric C. Sturgen, R.N., had been killed on war service was received by Mr. and Mrs. A. Sturgen, of 76, Newton-road, Rushden, from the Admiralty last Friday.

A/S Sturgen volunteered for service in June 1941, and was reported “missing” in January of this year. He had previously been employed by his father at the factory in Griffith-street, Rushden.
