The Wellingborough Road Roll of Honour - 'We shall all March Home again Some Day'
Mrs Sibley, secretary of the Wellingborough-road Roll of Honour, Rushden, has received another large batch of letters from the boys whose names appear on the list, in acknowledgement of the further gifts. The following are extracts from some of the letters:-
George Shorley: I sincerely hope we may soon all find our way back to good old Rushden.

Rushden Victim of the War - Private George Shorley Killed
Official news has been received by Mrs Shorley, 202 Wellingborough-road, Rushden, of he death of her son, Pte George Shorley, of the - London Regiment, who as killed in action on November 27th, in France. Deceased, was 34 years of age and had been in France about 18 months. He was expected home on leave when the sad news came. A letter from the Officer, conveying the sympathy from all ranks, states that the late soldier was very popular both with men and officers. He was engaged, with several other men, defending an important post, when he was killed. Deceased was the brother of Mrs Joseph Knight, of Irchester-road, Rushden.
