William Salter was born at Rushden and attested here on 12th December 1915, and was living at 43 Washbrook Road. He was 28 years old and a shoe hand, and remained on reserve until enlisting at Northampton on 18th November 1916. He had married Millie Clara Minney on 14th February 1914 at the Roman Catholic Church in Wellingborough, and they had a son Francis Robert at Higham Ferrers on 2nd November 1915. When he enlisted they were living at 38 Vivian Road, Wellingborough.
