Rushden Victim of the War - Pte C H Richardson - Succumbs to Bronchitis and Pneumonia
 We deeply regret to record the news that Mrs C H Richardson, of 7 Pemberton-street, Rushden, has received official news that her husband Pte C H Richardson, of the Northants Regt, has succumbed to bronchitis and pneumonia in France.
Mrs Richardson first received news of her husband's illness last Tuesday week, when she received a telegram from the War Office to say that he was dangerously ill, and that permission to visit him could not be granted. A week ago to-day Mrs Richardson received a letter from one of the nurses at the hospital to say that Pte Richardson was making satisfactory progress, so that the news of his death, which followed last Sunday morning came as a great shock.
The deceased soldier, who leaves six children, besides his widow, to mourn this loss, was 40 years of age. His eldest son, Pte S Richardson of the Leicester Regt., is in France, and has visited his father's grave.
The late Pte Richardson enlisted with Capt. Stocken's recruits, 12 months last November, and at the time of his death had been in France 11 months, during the whole of which period he had suffered very indifferent health. He was removed from the trenches last August and appointed to the headquarters staff, but he returned to the trenches quite recently and contracted the complaints which resulted in his death. Prior to enlistment he was employed by Mr C W Horrell, boot manufacturer, Rushden. Much sympathy is felt with the widow and family in their bereavement.
Mrs Richardson and family desire to express sincere thanks for the many expression of sympathy they have received in their sore bereavement.
