Further research by Lynn Varcin with the Australian War Diary Records Office:

I have investigated the war diary for 3rd Field Artillery Brigade for August 1916, and the service records of Horace Perkins, John Brennan, Thomas Vennell, and George Robert Brown. Their service records record the varying dates of death for each man, though the report on page 32 of the war diary (AWM4 13/31/24, RCDIG1014018) indicates their date of death is 21 August 1916.
Based on this, I have updated the date of death on the records on our Roll of Honour database for Horace Perkins, John Brennan, Thomas Vennell, and George Robert Brown, accordingly.
