Ex-Soldier's Death at Rushden - Fighting Under Most Terrible Conditions - A War Victim

The sad death occurred on Monday at 15, Park-place, Rushden, the residence of Mr and Mrs Joseph Parker, of their son, Mr Walter Parker, aged 29.

The deceased joined the Army at the outbreak of war, and served in France, taking part in much of the worst fighting under terrible conditions. He was gassed and severely wounded in an accident and had many narrow escapes. As a result of his trying conditions he developed pulmonary tuberculosis. He was sent from France to Tooting Hospital, and from there to Creaton Sanatorium.

After he improved somewhat he worked at Messrs. C W Horrell's factory, and continued there until just over twelve weeks ago. Becoming worse in health he was forced to give up work. He was a member of the Athletic Club and the flag of the Club was flown at half-mast on the announcement of the death of Mr Parker. The deceased leaves a widow to mourn her loss.
