Killed In Action - Mrs J Okey, of 26 Albion-place, Rushden, has heard unofficially that her husband 22369, Pte Jack Okey, Royal Sussex Regiment has been killed in action. Pte William Lovell (Rushden), of the same regiment, wrote to his wife, whose resides in Crabb-street, asking her to inform Mrs Okey that her husband was killed on March 21st. He says "He was shot straight through the head and killed at once so he did not suffer much, poor old Jack." The late Pte Okey joined the Colours eight months ago and went to France on December 1st last year. He formerly worked for Messrs. Green and Coe, boot manufacturers, Rushden and was a much respected member of the Rushden Town Band Club, where he has been a waiter for the past five years. He was 35 years of age, and leaves a widow and three children. His father, Mr G T Okey has now lost two sons in the present war, and one other on the Indian frontier 22 years ago. There are still three sons and a son-in-law serving their country.
