Old Rushden Scout Killed

Pte Ernest Odell, of the Northants Regt, son of Mr J Odell, of 21, Westfield-road, Wellingborough (formerly of Rushden), has been officially reported as killed in action on March 4th. At one time he was a very popular Scout at Rushden - at the time Mr Preston was in command. Pte Odell joined up on his 21st birthday two years ago, and within 13 weeks of that time was in the trenches. He was last at home in the autumn of last year, going out again for the third time last October. He was very popular in the school leaving matches at Rushden and on leaving school went to work at the factory of George Selwood and Co., of Rushden, as a clicker.
