Rushden Airman Killed
News was received by telegram on Friday that a Rushden Air-gunner, Sergt. Denis W. Norman, R.A.F., has lost his life in action in the Middle East. Sergt. Norman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Norman, of 5, King’s-road, Rushden, and his wife, whom he married about four years ago, is living with her father and mother at “The Chequers”, Higham Ferrers. Aged 28, Sergt. Norman was an Intermediate School old boy, and a keen sportsman, having taken an interest in cricket, tennis and football. A worshipper at the Baptist Church, Park-road, he had also played for their sports teams. Before joining up about two years ago he had been employed by Messrs. Tite and Garfirth, at Kettering and lived for a year in Windmill-avenue.
