Rushden Lad’s Death Confirmed
We are sorry to learn that Mr. and Mrs. W. Mason, of Carnegie-street, Rushden, have received official news of the death of their son Charles. He was killed at Aubers Ridge while gallantly fighting with the Northants.

Rushden Soldier Dead - Pte Charles Mason - Missing Since the Battle of Aubers Ridge
Mr John William Mason, of Carnegie street, Rushden, whose son, Pte C Mason, 3/8835, Northants Regt, has been missing since the Battle of Aubers Ridge on May 9th, 1915, has now received a communication from the War Office, to the effect that as nothing further has been heard of him, they regretfully come to the conclusion that Pte Mason is dead and that he died on or after the date named. An expression of the sympathy of the King and Queen was included in the official communication.
