Rushden Soldier Gassed - Pte W Knight loses his Speech and Happily Regains It
News has been received that No. 225939 Pte W M Knight, A Coy, 3rd Platoon, — Batt., Northants Regiment, BEF, France, was badly gassed on November 7th. Pte Knight, who is the third son of Mr and Mrs J Knight, of 6, Gordon-terrace, Rushden Hill, and husband of Mrs W M Knight, of 35, Kings-road, Rushden, is in hospital in Dublin. Thought the casualty occurred on November 7th, his wife did not receive the intimation until, November 17th. As the result of the gassing, Pte Knight temporarily lost the power of speech, but we are pleased to say that he has now regained it, though he is still very weak.

Soldier's Death—Pte. William M. Knight, 225939, 2nd Northants Regiment, reported missing on May 27th, 1918, is now presumed by the Army Council to have died on that date. A letter received from the Red Cross on January, 11th, sent by a comrade, stated that he was killed by a shell. Before joining the Forces he was employed by Messrs. Chas. Sanders, of Duck-street. He leaves a widow and one child. Mrs. Knight wishes to thank all friends for inquiries and sympathy during the long suspense and anxiety.
