PTC William Arthur Hill

PTC William Arthur Hill only son of Mr & Mrs D R Hill of Grange Cottages, Wellingborough Road, has been reported killed in action in the Middle East in November.

PTC Hill was 24 years of age and had been in the Army for over 4 years. After serving with the Royal Artillery in France, he was evacuated at the time of Dunkirk and later in 1940 went to the Middle East, where he became a paratrooper. A letter of sympathy has been received from his C.O. who said that he met his death instantaneously while on a special mission.

Before the war William Hill was employed at Messrs Bignell's warehouse and was very keen on all types of sport.
