Rushden Man a Prisoner

Pte Harry Hensman, Northants Regiment, has been wounded in the recent fighting. Mrs Hensman, of Washbrook-road, Rushden, has received official information of the casualty, but no details. We understand that Pte Childs, of Rushden, who has been missing for some six or seven weeks, is a prisoner of war in Germany.

Official news has been received by Mrs E M Hensman, of Washbrook-road, Rushden that her husband, 203043, Pte H Hensman, of the Northants Regt., was wounded on July 31st.

Pte Hensman, who joined the Colours on January 17th, was a member of the Rushden company, 2nd Battalion, Northants Volunteers from the inauguration of the company. He proceeded to the Western front about twelve weeks after joining the Colours. Before enlistment he was employed by the Tecnic Boot Co., Rushden.

In our issue of August 17th, 1917, we recorded the fact that 203043, Pte. Harry Hensman, Northants Regiment, whose wife resides at 112, Washbrook-road, Rushden, was officially reported wounded on July 31st, 1917, and he was subsequently reported missing.  Nothing further has been heard of him, and an official intimation has now reached Mrs Hensman that the Army Council are regretfully constrained to conclude that he died on or about July 31st last.  The late Pte. Hensman, who was the son of Mr and Mrs Hensman, of Grove-street, Rushden, joined the Colours on January 17th, 1917, and about 12 weeks afterwards was sent to the Western Front.  Before joining the Forces he was employed by the Tecnic Boot Co., Rushden.  He had been a member of the Rushden Company, 2nd Battalion, Northants Volunteers, since its inauguration.

Rushden Soldier Presumed Killed

Pte Harry Hensman, Northants Regt., husband of Mrs Hensman, 122 Washbrook-road, Rushden, and son of Mr and Mrs Hensman, Grove-road, Rushden, who was reported missing since July 31st, 1917, has now been officially presumed dead. Pte Hensman joined the Forces in January, 1917, and went to France in April of that year.
