In Normandy Landing

After three and a half years’ service in the Navy, Mr D Hemmington, of Rushden, has died.

Ex-R.N. Man Dies at Rushden

Demobilised in March from the Royal Navy with which he had taken part in the landing craft operations at Normandy on D Day, Mr Donald Hemmington died in Rushden House Sanatorium on Tuesday morning, aged 22.

Eldest son of Mr and Mrs W Hemmington, of 1 Boundary-avenue, Rushden, he entered the Sanatorium in June.

He had been with the Navy for 3½years and after Normandy saw service in the Far East, at Singapore.

Previously he was employed by Messrs A Allebone and Son Ltd., boot manufacturers, and had attended the South End School.

The funeral will take place on Friday.
