Missing From Night Raid
Rushden Airman Who Joined Up From A.T.C.
Sergt. Dion Clive Harris, R.A.F.V.R., younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harris, of 26, Westfield-avenue, Rushden, has been reported by the Air Ministry as missing from night operations recently. He is aged 19, and before joining up was a valuable member of the A.T.C. at Rushden, acting as the P.T. instructor. He is also well known as a keen sportsman and a member of the St. Peter’s Church choir.
The raid from which Sergt. Harris did not return was his thirteenth. He has been flying as wireless operator-air gunner, and while over Berlin one night was shot in the hand. During a recent leave he became engaged to Miss Iris Cornwall, of Park-road, Rushden. Before enlistment he was employed by Messrs. Strong and Fisher, leather dressers.
The parents, who are anxiously awaiting further news, had a sad experience in January of last year, when their elder son was killed while serving in the Royal Navy.
