Rushden Mother's Double Bereavement
Gunner Tom Goodwin Succumbs to Pneumonia Two Months After His Father's Death
We sincerely regret to learn that Mrs W Goodwin, of 273 Wellingborough-road, Rushden, has suffered further bereavement by the death in France of her soldier son, Gunner Tom Goodwin, of the RGA, who succumb to pneumonia at the 1st Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, France, on November 4th.
The circumstances surrounding the death are exceptionally sad as the deceased soldier was expecting to come home on leave on the very day on which he was taken ill, and it is but two months ago that the deceased soldier's father passed away.
The late Gunner Goodwin, who was 24 years of age, and had been in France about seventeen months. Before leaving Rushden he was a member of the Park-road Baptist Young Men's Bible class. Much sympathy is felt with Mrs Goodwin and family in their sore bereavement.
Gunner Goodwin stood over six feet in height. Previous to joining up he was at Luton as a grocer. He served his apprenticeship with the India and China Tea Company, at Rushden.
Mrs Goodwin and family desire to express their sincere thanks to all the kind friends who have either personally or by letter sent expressions of sympathy with them in their grievous loss they have sustained.
