Rushden Soldier In Hospital - Lce-Corpl. G. Drage - Wounded in the Shoulder
Mr. and Mrs. John Drage, 6 Robinson-road, Rushden, received a letter from their son, Lance-Corpl. George Drage, of the Sportsmen’s Battalion, on Monday morning to say that he had been wounded in the right shoulder. He received his injuries on the night of July 25th, and when he wrote he was in a base hospital in France. Up to yesterday morning Mr. and Mrs. Drage had received no further information. Lance-Corpl. Drage, who went to France last November is well-known in Rushden, and prior to enlistment was a clerk in the employ of the Rushden and Higham Ferrers Gas Company.
A later communication says that Lance-Corpl. Drage, has been brought to Southampton.

Rushden Soldier Recovering from Wound
Lance-Corpl George Drage (Rushden), of the Royal Fusiliers, son of Mr and Mrs J Drage, of 6 Robinson-road, Rushden, has just spent ten day's leave at home, after 12 weeks at Billinge Military Hospital, where he was taken after receiving a wound in the shoulder from a piece of shell on July 25th on the Western front. It is a coincidence that Lance-Corpl Drage enlisted on the 25th of a month, he was wounded on the 25th and reported back to his depot last Wednesday, also the 25th.
The shell from which Lance-Corpl Drage received his wound killed three of his comrades and wounded several others.
Lance-Corpl Drage enlisted Feb. 25th, 1915, prior to which time he was a clerk in the employ of Rushden and Higham Gas Company.

Rushden Soldier Missing
We deeply regret to record the bad news that Lce-Corpl George Drage, son of Mr John Drage, of Robinson-road, Rushden, is officially reported to be missing. He joined the Sportsman's Battalion of the 4th Royal Fusiliers early in the war, and has seen considerable service in France. He was wounded some time ago and after some time in England recovered and returned to France. The missing soldier was very well known and generally liked in the town. Before enlisting he was a clerk in the Rushden Gas Company's employ. We deeply sympathise with the parents in their anxiety, and hope that good news will speedily be heard of this soldier.

Rushden Soldier Missing - Lance-Corpl George Drage A Former Gas Employee
 Mr and Mrs John Drage, of 6 Robinson-road, Rushden, have, we are sorry to report, received some disconcerting news concerning their youngest son, 54842, Lance-Corpl George James Drage, of the Royal Fusiliers, who is officially reported missing from May 3rd.
Lance-Corpl Drage, who prior to enlistment, was hi the employ of the Rushden and Higham Ferrers Gas Company as clerk, enlisted on February 25th, 1915, and went to France in November the same year. On July 25th, 1916, he received a wound in the right shoulder at Trones Wood and came home on sick furlough after having been in hospital three months. He returned to the Western front on March 15th this year, but having been employed at the base, he did not go into action until May 1st so that he has been in the fighting barely three days before he was reported missing. Mr and Mrs Drage have received no definite news concerning the events which led up to their son's being reported missing and will feel grateful to any of his comrades who can furnish them with any further news concerning Lance-Corpl Drage's fate. Rushden Soldier Missing - Lance-Corpl George Drage - What A Comrade Saw
Mr Drage, of Robinson-road, Rushden, visited London on Sunday last for the purpose of interviewing a wounded soldier in a hospital in the metropolis with the object of gleaning news as to his son, Lance-Corpl George J Drage, who is reported missing.
The wounded soldier, who knew Lance-Corpl Drage intimately, said in the bayonet charge he saw the missing man wounded in the head. He was not able to stop to ascertain the nature of the wounds, but he was under the impression that the injuries were fatal. The shell fire was so terrific that is was impossible to attempt to rescue the injured men. The Red Cross Society are doing their utmost to trace the missing soldier.

Rushden’s Casualty List
Mr and Mrs John Drage, of 6, Robinson-road, Rushden, received official information on Wednesday, to the effect that as nothing has been heard of their son, Lance-Corpl. George J. Drage, of the Royal Fusiliers, who has been missing since May 3rd, 1917, the military authorities regretfully conclude that he was killed on that date or since. Lance-Corpl. Drage joined the Colours in February, 1915, and went to France in November the same year. He was wounded at Trones Wood in July, 1916, and came home on sick furlough. He returned to France in March, 1917, but did not go into action until May 1st, so that he was in the line barely three days before he was killed. Prior to enlisting, Lance-Corpl. Drage was an employee of the Rushden and Higham Ferrers Gas Co.
