Commemorated on Portsmouth Naval Memorial



Born at Moulton on 24 May 1887, lived Wymington. Enlisted 1905 at Northampton.
Joined RN 24/5/1905 at Northampton on his 18th birthday for 12 year engagement. Trained for submarines at HMS Dolphin 15/4/1913. Transferred to mother ship HMS Maidstone for duty on  HM s/m E2, 19/7/1913. Discharged Dead (DD) 26/12/1915. “Lost his life on duty.”

In 1891 he was living with his aunt and uncle in Moulton, his parents, George & Agnes were in Wymington with Alfred 2 & James 2 months. In 1901 in Wymington with his family. In 1909 married Jessie Scroxton, registered in Northampton. In 1911 he was an Able Seaman, at Gosport with wife Jessie, William R, 1 and baby 1 month. He was killed on HM Submarine E6, body not recovered.
