Rushden Soldier's Death - Private F Denton - Parents Second Bereavement

Mr and Mrs F Denton, of 6, Station-road, Rushden, have, we regret to report, suffered their second bereavement through the war, by the death from wounds of their eldest son, Pte F Denton, of the Northants Regt., who passed away last Wednesday week at the age of 33 years. Pte Denton, we understand, received his injuries last Tuesday week from a shell, losing both legs, and one arm, but lingering until the following day, he kept cheerful until the last, sending a message by a Finedon comrade, "Tell my mother, and give my love to her."

The late Pte F Denton was one of Capt. Stocken's recruits, and at the time of his death had been in France about eighteen months. He had once previously been wounded in the legs, but only slightly.

Prior to enlistment he worked for years for Mr C W Horrell, boot manufacturers, Rushden. He leaves a widow to mourn her loss, and much sympathy is felt with her, as also with his parents, who lost another son, the late Pte Arthur Denton, also of the Northants Regt., who was killed between July 7th and 8th, 1916.

Two other of Mrs and Mrs Denton's sons are serving with the colours, viz., Stretcher-Bearer Bert Denton, R.A.M.C, and Pte Len Denton, of the Northants Regt., both of whom are in France.
