Killed Just Before End
On April 20th, only a few days before the enemy surrender. William Henry Cross, R.A., of Rushden, was killed while serving in Italy.
Aged 27, Gunner Cross leaves a widow, who resides at 126 Cromwell-road, Rushden. Elder son of Mr. W. U. Cross and the late Mrs. Cross, of 132 High-street South, he was employed by Messrs. Coggins, of Raunds, before joining the Army five years ago. He went out to North Africa two and a half years ago and was transferred to Italy only a few weeks before his death.
His brother, Mr. E. H. Cross has been discharged after service with the Royal Corps of Signals.
