Rushden’s Casualty List
Mr and Mrs R. Cox, of 4, Dayton-street, Rushden, have received official news that their only son, 13946, Pte. Leonard Cox, Northants Regiment, has been missing from his regiment since April 5th. Pte. Cox, who is 23 years of age, joined the Colours in September, 1914, immediately following the declaration of war. He first went to France at the latter end of July, 1915, and was out there 16 months before he was granted his first leave. He was home on another period of leave last Christmas, returning to the Western Front on January 4th, this year. Up to the time of enlistment he was employed by Messrs. Jaques and Clark, boot manufacturers, Rushden. A comrade has written to Mr and Mrs Cox to say that when he last saw Pte. Cox he was wounded, but he cannot say what became of him subsequently. Mr and Mrs Cox will be grateful for any further information concerning their son. As a lad Pte. Cox passed through the Rushden Wellingborough-road Mission Sunday School.

Rushden Brothers Killed in the War
Official news has now been received of the death in action of Bombardier Ernest Edwards Sears, RFA, aged 28, husband of Mrs E E Sears of 4, Dayton-street, Rushden, and son of Mrs W Sears, of 82, Wellingborough road, Rushden. He was killed in France on October 8th.
Mrs Sears has lost another son in the war, Pte R Sears, aged 20, who was killed in action on August 16th, 1917.
A brother of Mrs E E Sears, Pte Leonard Cox, son of Mrs R Cox, of 4 Dayton-street, Rushden, is reported wounded and missing.

Rushden Soldier Missing - News of Pte Leonard Cox Wanted
Pte Leonard Cox. 13946, 6th Northants Regiment, son of Mr and Mrs Richard Cox, of 4 Dayton-street, Rushden is reported missing and wounded since April 5th. His parents would be very grateful to any of his comrades who can give any information as to his whereabouts.
Mr and Mrs Cox have one son-in-law, Bombardier Sears killed in action, and two other sons-in-law are still in France - Pte G Norman, Royal Irish Regiment of Rushden, and Corpl W Sharpe, Labour Battalion of Harrold.

SOLDIER'S DEATH - Pte L Cox, 13946, Northants Regiment, of 4 Dayton-street, Rushden who was reported as wounded and missing on April 5th, 1918, is now presumed by the Army Council as having been killed on or since that date. Official news to this effect has been received by his parents. Mr and Mrs R Cox and family wish to thank all kind friends for sympathy in their sad bereavement.
