Rushden Soldier Missing - Private S Cook of the Northamptons
Mrs Harry Cook, of 30 Duck-street, Rushden, has received official news that her son, 10689, Pte S Cook, Northants Regt, has been posted as missing after action which took place on Aug. 17-18.
The last communication Mrs Cook received from her son was a field card under date Aug. 13th on which he said he was quite well. Since then she has heard nothing from him. Mrs Cook would be glad of information any of her son's comrades can send her concerning his fate.
Pte Cook's father, Pte Harry Cook, of the Essex Regt., is in Egypt where he has been 12 months. Pte S Cook enlisted on Sept. 7, 1914, and went to France on Sept. 1st last year. Although he fought right through the battle of Loos, and several subsequent engagements he was all right until August 17-18 this year.

Rushden Soldier Missing - News Wanted
 A few weeks ago we published the news that Mrs H Cook, of 30 Duck-street, Rushden, received official news that her son, Pte Sidney Cook, of the Machine Gun section, Northants Regt., had been missing from his regiments as from Aug. 17-18. Mrs Cook has now received a letter from Lieut G A Williamson, Lewis Gun Officer, as follows: "I much regret that I can find our no definite news of your son. He took part in the attack before Guillemont on Aug. 18, and when last seen was with his gun which was in the a part of the line then held by the Middlesex Regt. He was then unhurt but we have not seen or heard of him since then."
Mrs Cook and family will be grateful for any further news that Pte Cook's officers or comrades can send them.

Rushden Soldier's Death Assumed by the War Office - The Fate of Private S Cook
Mr Henry Cook, of 30 Duck-street, Rushden, has now received official news from the Record Office, regarding his son, Pte Sidney Cook 3/10689 - Northants Regt., who has been missing since August 17th, 1916. The Army Council state that they have regretfully constrained to conclude that Pte Cook is dead, and that his death took place on August 17th last year or since that date. Lord Derby forwards with the statement and expression the true sympathy of the King and Queen.
