Gunner Frederick Clark

Private 48635, 12th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers

Son of Frederick and Elizabeth Clark, of Wellingborough
Husband of Jessie Clark

Died 19 June 1917

Aged 27 years

Commemorated on Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial
Panel 6 and 8.

Enlisted at Rushden.
Note: There is some confusion about F Clark on our war memorial due to the newspaper reports giving the surname as CLARKE. Frederick and Horace are reported in the newspapers and both have memorial cards with CLARKE, so we assumed them to be the two on the war memorial but without the 'e'. This is another F Clark who enlisted at Rushden, so perhaps he worked in one of the shoe factories here, and enlisted with his workmates, but he was born at Wellingborough. On the War Memorial no 'e' appears an any of the CLARK entries. No newspaper reports about this man have been found in the Rushden Echo during research by several people over the last 12 years.
