Rushden Airman Killed

After a lapse of time in which no news has been forthcoming, Sergt. Wireless-Operator/Rear Gunner C. H. (Dick) Chapman, R.A.F., of Rushden, has now officially been presumed killed. Sgt. Chapman was reported “missing” on November 13th of last year, after his plane had failed to return. Aged 23, he was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Chapman, of 121, Park-road, Rushden, and had been in the R.A.F. since September 1941. Formerly he worked with his father in his window cleaning business. He was an old boy of South End School, a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Working Men’s Club, and had joined the British Legion during the war.

One brother is serving in the R.A.F. and another in the Royal Navy. There is one sister.
Sgt. Chapman was engaged to Miss G. Duffin, of London.
