John Chamberlain was born Steeple Gidding 1880. He enlisted in Finchley, MDX. 1901 at 42 Glassbrook Road with his sister and brother-in-law. He married May Robinson (born Rushden 1885) in 1908. In 1911 they were living in Harborne near Birmingham.

Victims of the War Men Killed, Wounded and Gassed
Pte J Chamberlain, Middlesex Regiment, husband of Mrs Chamberlain, of 15 Church-street, Rushden, has been wounded in the left thigh and knee and is dangerously ill in hospital in Calais.

Rushden Victims of the War Long List This Week
Mrs Chamberlain, of 15 Church street, Rushden, whose husband, Pte J Chamberlain, Middlesex Regt., we reported seriously wounded in our last issue, received information this (Friday) morning that he succumbed to his wounds last Tuesday evening.
The late Pte Chamberlain leaves a widow and two little children. He joined the Colours about twelve months last August and had been in France 16 months.
