Rushden Soldier Killed - Private Albert Busby Succumbs to Wounds

We regret to report that Mrs G Mackness, 135 Cromwell-road, Rushden, has received information that her son, Private Albert Busby, of the Essex Regiment, succumbed to wounds on Sept. 24th. The deceased soldier had formerly seen service with the colours, having served 12 years with the Bedford Regiment, and he fought and was wounded in the South African campaign. He re-enlisted in the Essex Regt. in September, 1914, prior to which time he was an employee of Messrs. C Wicksteed and Co, Kettering, where he was greatly respected by his fellow workmen.

Mrs Mackness has two other sons in the Army - Corpl William Busby, of the Northants Regt., at present stationed at Harrogate, and Pte Geo Busby, Machine Gun Section, King's Own Royal Lancasters. The latter has been to France three times and was wounded about 12 months last February. About nine weeks ago he was again sent home from the front ill, and at present he is in hospital at Leicester, whither his mother has been to see him.
