Mrs L Perkins, the secretary of the Newton road, Robinson road, and Pratt road, Roll of Honour, has received further letters from the Rushden lads who are with the colours, thanking the committee for the gifts.
Pte J Brown, East Surrey Regt, BEF: I am sure your good work will not be forgotten when the war is over, which I hope will not be long.

Rushden Quartette
Pte. C. H. Parker has two brothers serving with the colours in France, Pte. Henry and Pte. Frederick Parker, and a brother-in-law, Pte. J. T. Brown, who has just been officially reported missing since October 10th. The four, although all being in France, never saw each other out there. Pte. J. T. Brown, of the East Surreys, joined up in February last, and went to France in May, and is now reported missing. Before joining up he worked in Mr. C. W. Horrell’s factory. Rushden Soldier Missing - News Wanted of Pte J T Brown – East Surrey Regiment
We regret to report that Mrs E K Brown, formerly of 7, Newton-road, Rushden, and now residing with her parents at 8, Park-place, had received official news that her husband, 33050 Pte J T Brown, of the East Surrey Regiment, has been missing from his unit as from October 10th. Pte Brown, who joined up last February, formerly worked for Mr C W Horrell, boot manufacturer, Rushden, being highly respected by his shopmates.
Mrs Brown will be grateful to any of her husband’s comrades who can send her any further information.

Rushden’s Casualty List - Victims of the War
Pte. John Thomas Brown, of the East Surreys, husband of Mrs Brown, of 8, Park-place, Rushden, reported missing since Oct. 10th, 1917, is now presumed by the Army Council to have died on or since that date, as nothing more has been heard of him. Pte. Brown, who formerly worked for Mr C. W. Horrell, boot manufacturer, joined the Colours in February, 1917, and was sent to France in May, 1917. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Brown, of Washbrook-road, Rushden. |
