The family lived at 65 Sartoris Road, when Mark enlisted on the 27th November 1915. He went from Folkestone to France, with the Expeditionary Force on the 14th of June 1916 and he joined the 7th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment in the field on 24th June 1916. On June the 8th 1917 Mark was killed in action.

Rushden Soldier's Death - Private Mark Bradshaw Killed While Burying the Dead

Mr and Mrs William Bradshaw, 63, Sartoris-road, Rushden, have received the official news that their son, 22695, Pte Mark Bradshaw, Northants Regt, was killed in France on June 8th.

Particulars of his death were sent by a comrade, who wrote that Pte Bradshaw was engaged in burying the dead, when a shell fell amongst the burial party, killing three, including Pte Bradshaw.

The deceased soldier, who was 32 years of age, enlisted two years ago and had been in France more than twelve months, but, owing to his being lame, he was only engaged in work at the back of the lines, and it is singularly unfortunate that he should have been killed whilst engaged in such duties. Before enlistment he was employed by Mr Robert Marriott, builder and contractor, Rushden.

Mr and Mrs Bradshaw have another son in the Army, viz., Pte W Bradshaw, Northants Regt, who was severely wounded some months ago, and who since that time has been in eleven hospitals. He is still in hospital.
