Soldier’s Relatives Are Anxious
Rushden Fusilier Missing from Unit Since Wedding Anniversary Day

Fusilier Bond The unexplained disappearance of a Rushden soldier from his unit in the North of England is causing anxiety to his relatives.

On December 23 – the anniversary of his wedding – Fusilier Leslie Bond, of the Northumberland Fusiliers, one of four brothers who are serving in the Forces, posted some Christmas cards and a letter to his wife from the town where he was stationed. From that time, however, he has apparently been missing from his unit, and no other information about him has reached his wife, who resides at Westfield-avenue, Rushden, or his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bond, of 3 Washbrook-road, Rushden.

Fusilier Bond came home on leave a fortnight before Christmas, and his parents say that he was then well and happy, remarking to them that he could not understand people who disliked the Army. They received a letter from him shortly after his return, and this again indicated that he was in normal health and spirits.

Aged 28, Fusilier Bond joined the Army last July, having previously worked at the C.W.S. boot factory, where his wife is employed. Two of his brothers are in the R.A.F. and one is a Platoon Sergeant-Major serving in India.

Awaiting News from Soldier Son
Rushden Fusilier’s Parents are Anxious About Him

Absence of news from their soldier son, who is not now with his unit in the north of England, is causing anxiety to his relatives at Rushden. On December 23rd, the anniversary of his wedding, Fusilier Leslie Bond, of the Northumberland Fusiliers, one of four brothers who are serving in the Forces, posted some Christmas cards and a letter to his wife from the town where he was stationed, but from that time he has apparently not been with his unit and no other information about him has reached his wife, who lives at 83, Westfield-avenue, Rushden, or his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bond, of 3, Washbrook-road, Rushden. Fusilier Bond came home on leave a fortnight before Christman, when his parents say that he was then well and happy, remarking to them that he could not understand people who disliked the Army.

They received a letter from him shortly after his return, and this again indicated that he was in normal health and spiritis.

Aged 28, Fusilier Bond joined the Army last July, having previously worked at the C.W.S. boot factory, where his wife is employed.

Two of his brothers are in the R.A.F. and one is a Platoon Sergt.-Major serving in India.
