Mrs J W Bollard, of 39 Cromwell-road, Rushden, received official news last Saturday that her husband, Pte John Wilfred Bollard, aged 23, East Yorks Regiment, was killed in action on March 25th. He joined the Colours in 1914 immediately following outbreak of war and had been three times wounded, having been home on leave so recently as February last. Up to the tune of enlistment he was in the employ of the Mr Coe as engine-cleaner at Derby. His parents, Mr and Mrs George James Bollard, reside at 30 Chase-road, Wellingborough. Mrs Bollard, in addition to her recent bereavement has also lost two brothers in the war, viz., the late Ptes Fred Wooding (Northants Regt.) and Sidney Oliver Wooding (Durham Light Infantry). Another brother, AB Charles Wooding, R.N.D., was taken prisoner of war on March 24th this year, the news being received by Mrs Bollard recently. AB Chas. Wooding up to the time of enlistment in November, 1915, worked for Messrs. Denton and Sons Ltd, Rushden. On a card he has sent to his sister he says he is well.
