Rushden Soldier’s Death in India

As reported recently in the “Evening Telegraph,” the sad news of the death of her youngest son, Gunner Robert Downing, from typhus while on service in India has reached Mrs. F. Downing, of 23, Oswald-road, Rushden. Aged 22, Gunner Downing had been in India with the Royal Artillery for a year. Before joining up he was an employee of the boot firm of Walter Sargent and Co.
