Four Brothers in Arms

Above are portraits of the four brothers, all of Rushden, and all fighting in France. They are the sons of Mr. Albert Edward Laughton, of Wellingborough-road, Rushden, and he has every reason to be proud of his sacrifice for his country, and the cause of freedom. As we reported last week, Pte. A. E. Laughton, of the Scottish Rifles, won the Military Medal for conspicuous work on the Somme front at the opening of the big “push” last July. He carried despatches under shell and machine gun fire for two days and two nights when the telephone communications broke down. The eldest brother, Pte. William Laughton, is in the 2nd Bedfords. The next is Pte. Percy Laughton, in the Northants. Then comes the Military Medallist and Pte. Walter Laughton, also in the Northants. Mr. Laughton’s daughter’s husband is also a soldier.
