28’s to Register - Instructions for Men on To-morrow’s List

The registration of the 28 year-olds under the National Service (Armed Forces) Act will be held to-morrow (Saturday). It will relate to the 1911 class, i.e. men born between January 1, 1911, and December 31, 1911, both dates inclusive. Men who reached the age of 20 since the last registration day (May 25) do not register on Saturday, but will register, together with the 1910 class, on the following Saturday.

Men who are members of the Local Defence Volunteers are not exempt from registration. They must register and are liable to be called up under the Act for service in the Forces in the normal way. Men who have a preference for naval or Air Force service may notify this fact when they register.

Men are particularly asked to attend at the following times according to the initial letter of their surnames

A to B …… 12.30 to 1 p.m.
C to E……. 1.0 to 2 p.m.
F to J …… 2.0 to 3 p.m.
K to O …… 3.0 to 4 p.m.
P to S …… 4.0 to 5 p.m.
T to Z …… 5.0 to 6 p.m.

The local offices will be closed between 11 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., and no registrations will be taken during this period. The offices will, however, be open between the hours of 9 and 11 in the morning for the purpose of registering men who are unavoidably prevented from attending at their allotted time in the afternoon. It is particularly emphasised that this does not mean that any man who finds himself free to register in the morning may do so. Only men who will be at work during the afternoon or men who for other good reasons find it impossible to attend during the afternoon will be allowed to register between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m.
