Promotion for Rushden Chemist
Mr. E. W. T. Howell, who was formerly assistant to Mr. C. Smith, pharmacist, of Rushden, and who enlisted in the R.A.M.C. a month ago, has been promoted sergeant. He is at present stationed at Warminster.

Promotions - For Rushden Ambulance Men
Rushden Ambulance men have received promotions as follows: Private H. Boyce R.A.M.C, promoted corporal; 1st Class Sergt J. C. Wright promoted, 1st Class Petty Officer Royal Navel Sick Berth Reserve.
The following Rushden Ambulance men left on Monday for Devonport Naval Hospital; Messrs. H. Skeeles, H. S. Hall, G. Bates, C. F. Fairey and J. Gross. They are Royal Naval Sick Berth Reserve men.

Pte. Chas. Cook (Queen-street, Rushden), of the R.A.M.C. staff, with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, writing from Abbassia, Cairo, says: “I have not met many of the Rushden boys since I have been here, but I have met a good many of the Welsh and Hereford boys who were billeted with us in Rushden about two years ago, and they all speak highly of the hospitality they received in Rushden.”

Pte. Herbert John Groome of the R.A.M.C.
Mrs. Groome, of 50 Sartoris-road, Rushden, has received official news that her husband, Pte. Herbert John Groome, 72527 Royal Army Medical Corps, is posted as missing, and is believed to be a prisoner of war. Prior to enlisting (in October 1915) he was in the employ of Mr. F. Corby, currier. Pte. Groome has been in France about 19 months, and was home on leave about three months ago. Mrs. Groome would be very grateful for any information which can be given to her as to the whereabouts of her husband.

Saved from Drowning
Three German boys, aged five, seven and nine were taken from a pond last Saturday afternoon at Troisdorf, Germany. The attention of Pte. J. E. Wright, R.A.M.C. of Rushden, and Pte. W. Cooper, R.A.M.C. of Finedon, both of the 103rd Field Ambulance, was drawn to the spot. Both men at once set to work and after applying artificial respiration for nearly an hour, succeeding in restoring all three youngsters back to life. One of them was unconscious for forty minutes.
