CD Service Awards

After a normal day’s training at the Irthlingborough Training Centre on Sunday afternoon members of the Northamptonshire Civil Defence Corps stayed on for the fourth presentation of long service medals for over 15 years’ service.

Thirteen people were present to receive their medals; three more were unable to attend.

The awards were made by the chairman of the County Civil Defence Committee, Alderman R J Mackintosh of Burton Latimer.

Among those to receive medals was the county officer Mr G T C Miller.

Other awards were presented to J W Coles, staff officer, instructor; Mr E H Cooper, training officer; Mrs I M Dickinson, ambulance and first aid; Mr H T Eastbrook, platoon officer rescue section; Mrs D Groocock, staff officer HQ; Mr F A Groocock, staff officer HQ; Mrs D E S Head, deputy platoon ambulance officer; Mr D S Letch, party rescue leader; Mrs W Mahon, member and instructor welfare section; Mr J Metcalfe, first aid party leader; Mr W G Pocock, deputy platoon first aid officer; Mr C W Steele, staff officer and instructor HQ.
