Sanders & Sanders
c1964 The old building at the junction of High Street and Station Road

The first factory was built in 1873 in High Street, and still stands today. Sanders and Sanders left and built a new factory in Spencer Road in 1908. The old factory was taken over by H Ingle.

Plans passed in November 1908, by the Urban District Council, and signed by Wm Bazeley.

Plan of the whole factory the main part being 98 feet long and 89 feet wide and the offices at the front adding 25 feet to the length - the addition at the left side is a toilet block with four WCs.
At the back of the factory is a coke shed, a heating chamber, two toilets, engine room and gas plant shed. At the front centre are three offices and entrance hall, with the shoe room to the right stretching into the main factory are.

1908 plan of the factory set between Spencer Road and Hayway, and cross sections
of the factory enhanced from a poor copy. Photo below shows the 'north lights' in the roof that were in all factories as this meant good light but no shadows were cast.

In 1924 a fire devastated the building and it was rebuilt.
