T T Clarke's factory

In 1895 T T Clarke married Mary Ann Skinner, and in 1901, they were living at 175 Wellingborough Road, with two young daughters.

T T Clarke began making Phit-Foot shoes in 1898, and then built this factory about 1908 in Wentworth Road. The business flourished and then left Rushden for Northampton, before expanding further.

About 1915 West Brothers had taken the factory, then in about 1920 the factory was taken on by H J Tuffrey. He left in 1926 and sold the business to Palmer and Surridge. The following year they suffered a fire.

In 1931 John White took on the factory until WWII. From about 1940 until at least 1973 it was Cecil Daniel's factory.
