Fred Knight's Clicking Room c1891

A clear winner this week is Mrs. S. Hitchins, 28 Station Road, Rushden, the only competitor who has supplied a complete list of names. Mrs. Hitchins writes :-

Your photo in the “Rushden Echo and Argus” of November 22 is of Mr. Fred Knight’s Clicking Department, which was taken on the lawn of his garden 37 or 38 years ago.

They are as follows :-

Top Row : Jack Sawford, of Irchester, deceased; Mr. Gamage, who came from Northampton, later started in business up “The Rock” as boot and shoe manufacturers trading as Gamage and Barratt; Bert Dickens, who at that time lived in Little-street; Bill Sawford, Irchester, twin brother to Jack Sawford.

Second Row : Fred Alderman, deceased; Harry Underwood, of Pratt-road, who is still employed there; Mr. Arthur Wilmott, boot and shoe manufacturer, Portland-road (foreman); Arthur Groome, who still resides in Station-road; William Joyce, who left Rushden some years ago.

Bottom Row : Herbert Harris, abroad; Mr. Baker, deceased; Herbert Ball, abroad; Harry Jackson, who still resides in Rushden.
