Eaton & Co
Gallery 1920s or 1930s?

Eaton & Co. – Trade marks “Northampton” & "Exeldia"

Messrs. Eaton & Co. began business in a small way in 1910, and soon they built a fine
new factory and fitted it with all the latest and best machinery. The capacity was
4,000 per week, and on the one floor system. The offices were on 2 floors.

The time clock - each employee was given a number and they pushed a pin into the allocated hole; the clock recorded the arrival and leaving time of the employee on a paper roll used to calculate wages. One minute late meant loss of pay for a ¼ hour. Clocking-in clock
right: The time clock from Eatons factory has been purchased by
Rushden Museum and now takes pride of place in the display.
