Mr. W. J. Shaw (Managing Director), Mr. J. L. Harris, Mr. F. G. Harris and Mr. J. A. Harris
The Nene Valley promises to be one of our largest centres for Leather Manufacture, and already in this corner of Northamptonshire more is being produced than probably elsewhere in the country. Be this as it may, the above company are out to do their share to capture the commercial power of the Hun and make Box and Willow Calf against all comers. They are constructing large works and providing all the best and most modern machinery for leather manufacture. Full chrome box and willow calf and army leather will be on the market very shortly, and all who have the good of their country at heart will wish this and kindred firms a great and glorious future. So much depends on their efforts after the war that one is glad to know they, the directors, are men of practical experience and such as should bring to fruition the business now in its infancy.

Mr. W. J. Shaw, the Managing Director, will be the tanning expert, and as he was probably the first man to bring chrome tanning to this district, he thoroughly understands the process. He was four years with Messrs. Ward & Co. Ltd, Worcester, than whom none made better chrome leather. Mr. Shaw started Messrs. W. E. & J. Pebody Ltd. on the high road, and was with Messrs. Hatton, Shaw & Co. Ltd, for about two and a half years. The other directors are sound businessmen who understand the leather trade and have great practical experience of the requirements of the district. The combination seems such as will command success and at the very least they will deserve it.
