In 1888 the firm was founded by the late Chas. Bull and Alfred Clayton. Mr Bull retired in 1900, owing to ill health, when Alfred Clayton took his son Walter Clayton into the business.

Their usual trade is Men’s and Boys’ Medium Class Goods, but since the commencement of the War they have been engaged principally upon Army Boots.

Two sons of Mr. Alfred Clayton are serving in the Great War: Private A. E. Clayton in the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry and Drummer F. R. Clayton, R.N.V.R.
