Whitworth Family
Quintus Whitworth came to Rushden from Felmersham in Bedfordshire to work in the shoe trade. He married Emma Bird, daughter of William a boot blocker, on the 4th of August 1890, and they lived with her parents and three brothers and two sisters, in a house in Duck Street. By 1901 Qunitus an Emma were living at 53 Grove Road, and now had four children, and they had been joined by Quintus’ brothers Samuel & Decimus. On May 25 1902 their children Beatrice Ellen, Charles Arthur Amos, Florence Emma, Lilian Ada and William John were baptised together at St Mary’s Church.

Charles Arthur Amos Whitworth married Kathleen Bessie Mitchell, daughter of Robert and Annie of Cromwell Road, in the summer of 1926. Thier son Bob became headmaster of Denfield School.
