| The marriage was solemnised at St Mary’s Church, Rushden, on Monday, the Rector (the Rev P E Robson, R.D.), officiating, of Miss Marion Georgina Mears, only daughter of Mrs Mears, of 25 Irchester-road, Rushden, and the late Mr G E Mears (formerly of Wollaston), to Mr George Edward Warren, eldest son of Mr E Warren, of 12 High-street, Rushden. Mr W Mears, of Wollaston, uncle of the bride, gave the bride away, and she was prettily attired in white georgette, a bridal veil and coronet of orange blossom, and white satin shoes. She carried a bouquet of pink Ophelia roses, given by the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Winnie Hustwait, friend of the bride, and Miss Bertha Mears, of Wollaston, cousin of the bride. They both wore Wedgwood blue georgette dresses, beige hats, and shoes and stockings to match. Their bouquets, of cream and pink roses, and the gold and enamelled initialled bracelets which they wore were the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr Albert Lattimore, friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Mr J Enos Smith at the organ played the Wedding March and other appropriate items. After the service a reception was held at the Queen Victoria Hotel, about 40 guests attending. The happy couple subsequently left for their honeymoon, touring by motor to Felixstowe and other resorts. The bride travelled in a covert rep coat, a beige and navy hat and coat, and a stone marten fur. Messrs Wadsworth Bros., Rushden, supplied the motors. The bride’s fellow teachers at the Alfred-street Council School presented her with a clock and the staff of Mr E Warren’s various shops made a gift of an oxidised flower vase. There were many other handsome gifts. |
