The bride, who was given away by Rifleman R Walker, K.R.Rs, of Wellingborough (cousin of the bridegroom), was tastefully gowned in white silk with silver trimmings, and she wore a bridal veil with orange blossom and carried a bouquet of white lilies and chrysanthemums, the gift of the bridegroom. Her jewellery consisted of a silver brooch with the word “Ypres” in gold in the centre, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaid, Miss Ella Cook (cousin of the bride), wore a pretty dress of pale blue silk voile, and a wreath of silver leaves around her hair. Her jewellery consisted of a brooch similar to that worn by the bride, and also the gift of the bridegroom. The duties of best man were ably discharged by Mr F Walker (brother of the bridegroom). The bride’s parents were unfortunately unable to be present at the ceremony owing to indisposition.

Subsequent to the ceremony a quite reception was held at the bride’s home, the guests numbering 40. The bride was formerly an officer of the Rushden Girl Guides, and the bridegroom, who is well known in Raunds as a footballer, having played as goalkeeper for the town team, enlisted 2½ years ago, and has been in France a year and eight months. Both he and his best man were home on leave for the wedding.
