Considerable interest centred on a wedding which took place at the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, on Wednesday, when members of two well-known local families were united in matrimony.

The bride was Miss Clarice Ella Sanders, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W B Sanders, of “Moorland House”, Hayway, Rushden, and the bridegroom Capt. A J Vann, of the Second Brigade, youngest son of the late Mr A G C Vann, M.A. (formerly principal of Chichele College, Higham Ferrers), and Mrs Vann, of Coates Rectory, Cirencester.

The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. C J Keeler, and the service was choral, the hymn “O Love Divine and Golden” being sung. Mr J Lindsay Clipson, A.R.C.O., presided at the organ, and played appropriate music as the guests and congregation assembled in the church as follows: Salut d’Amour (Elgar), Berceuse (Gounod), Processional March (Wagner), Bridal Chorus (Wagner), War March of the Priests (Mendelssohn), Wedding March (Mendelssohn).

The bride, who was given away by her father, was fashionably gowned in white crepe de chine with bridal veil and myrtle wreath, and she carried a choice bouquet of pale pink and white carnations. She was attended by her sister, Miss Doris Sanders, who wore a fawn coat-dress, with rose-pink hat, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The duties of best-man were discharged by Lieut. L R C Robinson, of the West Yorks.

Subsequent to the ceremony a reception was held at Moorland House, and later in the day Capt. and Mrs Vann left for London, where the honeymoon is being spent. For travelling the bride wore a costume of navy serge with mauve hat.

Capt. and Mrs Vann were the recipients of numerous and costly wedding gifts.
