Rushden Echo, 22nd June 1928, transcribed by Kay Collins
Underwood – Woods

Rushden and Knuston families were united by the wedding which took place on Monday at St Mary’s Church, Rushden, the Rev P E Robson officiating. The bride was Miss Elsie Eliza Woods, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W Woods, of Upper Farm, Knuston, and she became the wife of Mr Walter Underwood, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J Underwood, of 40 High-street South, Rushden. Mr Woods gave his daughter away, and she was prettily attired in white satin and georgette, and carried a bouquet of cream roses and spirella and fern. Miss Nellie Woods (sister of the bride), Miss V R Underwood (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss V Woods (niece of the bride), were the bridesmaids, and Master Douglas Morell (cousin of the bride) was page boy. The bridesmaids were attired in dresses of pink taffeta and forget-me-not blue, the eldest one carrying a bouquet of cream and pink roses and fern, and the younger ones sweet peas and ferns. Mr W Woods (brother of the bride) was the best man. The reception was held at Upper Farm, Knuston, and the happy couple afterwards left for their honeymoon at Rustling End, Codicote. Mr C H Scroxton supplied the motors.
