Mr and Mrs William Trusler Cut the cake

Mr. and Mrs. William Trusler, of 109, Glassbrook-road, Rushden, celebrated their Golden Wedding on Monday. The anniversary actually fell on Sunday, as the wedding was on August 5th, 1895, at St. Mary’s Church, Rushden, the Rev. Mr. Braithwaite officiating.
The couple were natives of Northampton, but both had moved to Rushden prior to their marriage. They have lived in their present home for 47 years.
Mr. Trusler was 72 years of age on Sunday, and his wife is 69. Both keep in quite good health.
For 28 years Mr. Trusler worked for Messrs. Skeeles and Co. in Moor-road, and for the last seven years he has been employed in the Finishing Dept. of Messrs. John White’s Newton-road factory. He is the oldest member of the Windmill Club and was the games secretary for several years.
There are seven surviving children – five sons and two daughters. One son, John Richard Trusler, is with the Army overseas, and the other six reside locally. There are also five granddaughters.
The party was in the St. Peter’s Highfield Hall and was attended by about 60 guests. The two-tier cake was made by Mrs. W. Elliott. One of the guests was Mrs. N. Newell, of Sartoris-road who was the only bridesmaid at the wedding.
