The Rushden Echo, 22nd May, 1914, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Striking Wedding Ceremony
Salvation Army Officers Married At Rushden

An interesting wedding took place on Wednesday at Rushden, the contracting parties being Capt. Margaret Ellen Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jones, of Nanty-moel, South Wales, and Capt. John Thos. Tiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tiner, of Rushden. Brig. Pointer, assisted by Major Bailey, officiated at the ceremony, which was conducted in the Queen-street Schools. Capt. Tiner has spent several years in South America, where he has worked up a strong cause for the Salvation Army. Capt. Jones has been associated with the movement for 15 years. Upwards of 40 officers were present, including two from Holland. Mr. W. Seamark acted as best man, and also gave the bride away. Suitable Welsh melodies were rendered by the Rushden Salvation Army Band, and Capt. Still, from Northampton Headquarters, was the organist. The bride was attired in the Army uniform with white Emmanuel sash. Motor cars were supplied by Mr. Albert Okins. The happy couple will spend their honeymoon at Ramsgate. Amongst the many useful presents was a travelling bag given by the local corps.
