A quiet wedding was solemnized at St. Mary’s Church last Saturday at 2.30 pm, when Mr. Reginald Rueben Thew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Thew, of Duck-street, Rushden, was united in marriage to Miss Nellie May Burgess, eldest daughter of the late Mr. George Burgess and Mrs. Burgess, of 25, Co-operative-row, Rushden.  The bride’s father, for many years foreman under the Urban Council, was held in great esteem by all who knew him; he resided at the fire station and fulfilled his duties there until his death a few years ago.  The bride, tastefully attired in a nigger brown costume, and velour hat to match was given away by Mr. J. Corby.  The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Misses Miriam Burgess and Stella Burgess, her sisters.  The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Percy Thew, brother of the bridegroom.  Mr. and Mrs. Thew were the recipients of many useful and serviceable presents, amongst them being a wicker divan chair given to the bride by the girls in the closing room of Messrs. Robinson Bros. factory, together with two bedroom velvet mats.
